Do you have to have a license to operate a dog boarding kennel in texas?

I am just curious if the State of Texas regulates dog / cat boarding facilities through mandatory licensing. I’m not concerned with breeding, only temporary boarding kennels.

You gotta do it in order. First check with zoning to see if they will permit that kind of business where you are. If you are denied, it all stops there. If you are approved, then you contact your city, county or state Animal Ordinances & apply for a kennel license. They have inspect your property & your kennels & pass you, to get the license or permit. You also have to have a business license if you are being paid & are receiving an income, ya gotta pay your taxes. You also may need an fire inspection.

Animal Control will shut you down if you don’t have a permit from them.
Zoning will shut you down if you do not have a permit from them.

Start with zoning.

Will home owners insurance cover pet boarding fees?

Recently had a sewer back up in my house. Insurance is covering out of pocket expenses but since the house was un liveable we had to board our pets. Can we turn this in as an expense and get reimbursed for the boarding charges since the hotel would not allow our pets. Thanks

Submit the bill to the adjuster and let them review it. They may be able to assist you with some of the fee. Probably not all of it, since boarding includes feeding the animals and you would have incurred that expense anyway.

Best to let the adjuster review the bill and see what they can do to help you.

My dog keeps scratching and rubbing his body everywhere after the boarding kennel and a hair cut?

My dog, after coming back from a boarding kennel for two weeks and getting a haircut, he began rubbing himself on the couch and walls continuosly, and biting and scratching his butt, tail and paws. He was proffesionally groomed and got his anal glands emptied, and we use frontline on him so we don’t think he has fleas. He hopefully doesn’t have worms as we are worming him. What else could be the problem? He has only started doing this after coming back from the kennel.

Usually after getting a haircut for dogs and even humans, your body gets itchy due to the remains of some hairs on your body. Your dog is fine. He will stop itching in the maximum days of a week. Hope I helped:)

I will be going away for a week, is cat sitting better or boarding better?

I have two male young cats, one is very afraid of strangers and always go crazy when I take him to the vet. The other one is friendlier but also afraid of strangers as well. Should I hire cat sitter at home or take them to the boarding place? Last time I left them home alone for 3 days, nothing major happened but it took me a whole day to clean up the mess..

Please kindly advise, thanks.

I have 7 cats. One is outside all others inside cats. I went to Texas for a week. I could not afford to board them. I did not want a sitter. I left out 10 containers of food and the bucket cat liter comes filled up 2 of those left lids loose.I left out 9 containers of water use plastic large coffee containers, filled up liter boxes. I took very small nails secured drapes, left toilet open. I was gone 7 days and my cats did just fine.My cats are only use to me and a knock of the door they run and hide. I returned 7 days later and everything was like it was when I left. I also made two trips to Florida staying 3 days and 2 days they did as above and returned all was well. Some times cats need a break from us as well.I left food and water for outside cat.

Do you have to have a licence to do pet boarding from home?

It depends on where you live but typically yes, you would need to have a business license. It’s also helpful to have insurance in case one of the animals is injured while being boarded in your home.

Does anyone know of a good/trusted place to board dogs in Branson Missouri?

We have two little doggies that we are looking for a boarding place for a few days while visiting family. Does anyone know of a trusted and kind place in Branson Missouri?
I did Google it, however I don’t trust business advertisement to tell me whether I can trust them with our dogs or not. I perfer to hear from someone who has had experience.

Sorry, I don’t know anything about that part of the country. You best search locally. Talk to Vets to see who they would recommend. Your local phone book may be of some help. Where have your friends left their dogs? Can you leave them with friends or family while you are gone? or have neighbors feed & walk while you are gone?

Which dog is better for my living condition?

I run a doggie daycare and boarding facility (Kennel), and at my house I have a five year old Siamese cat. I’m looking at adopting either a Pit Bull or a Boxer. I want a dog that is good with other dogs (and other pit bulls) as well as a dog that can get along with a cat. Which dog is better suited for my life, a Pit Bull or a Boxer?

Since you are into dogs, why are you asking this question? Your experience with these breeds in doggy daycare and boarding should give you a pretty good idea as to what you can live with.

If your dog is boarded and the place also has a doggie day care, would they automatically let your dog go to?

play with the other dogs in the day? They want extra $$ for day care. If I don’t cough it up, do u think they would leave the dog in a "room" by itself all day?
a good kennel wouldn’t what- let it alone all day or let it go with the other dogs?

I would say that they probably leave your dog in a crate or pen the majority of the day, taking them out only to go outside a few times a day alone.

Most places charge extra money for play sessions during boarding. probably somewhere between $5 and $20, depending on how long the are allowed to play with the other dogs, and how expensive the facility is in general.

Most large places will have a separate area for boarded animals, and animals in daycare. More often than not, doggie day care means the dogs are playing together with some supervision all day, and boarding implies dogs left alone the majority of the day unless the owner specifies/pays for play time. So your dog probably will not get play time if you do not pay.
